Church v. State ...
or worded:
religious v. irreligious;
spiritual v. secular; Godly v. ungodly
It is written: "Blessed is the
nation whose God is the LORD." -Psalm 33:12
"...as
Christ is head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior."
-Ephesians 5:23
Note: You will
not find the word "State" in The Bible!
"The great strength of
the totalitarian state is that it forces those who fear it to imitate it."
-Adolph Hitler

Roman culture was not neutral with respect to the announcement of God’s
reign in Christ. The Gospel of the kingdom is not just about a gift. It is
about a change of allegiance. The declaration “Jesus is Lord” was
understandably viewed as subversive and a threat to everything the Romans
held dear. That’s why Christians had to die. That’s why tyrants such as
Stalin and Mao tried to stamp out the Church. -The Threat of Jesus,
by Rev. Robert Lynn.

"If the First Reich prepared the way for Hitler by unifying church and
state, the Second Reich contributed to the paralysis of the church by
teaching that there must be a split between private and public
morality*. Otto von Bismarck (The shrewd premier of Prussia)
claimed to have had a conversion experience to Christianity while
visiting in the home of some pietistic friends. But he was faced with
the realization that as a political statesman he had to violate the
moral principles that governed his private behavior as a Christian.
He reasoned that when acting as a servant of the state, a man was not
bound by the same morality he should have as an individual. The
state, it was argued, should not be judged according to conventional law
because its responsibilities went beyond ordinary human values." -Hitler's
Cross, Erwin W. Lutzer
*E.g. "I don't want to reflect on
my fellow politicians, but if every politician that ever lied
was incapable of holding of service, I'm not too sure of how many we'd
have left." -James Jefford, Vermont (USA)
Representative [career politician]; -Quote taken after a press
conference; Burlington Free Press (year 2000)
“All political parties die at last of swallowing their own lies.”
-John Arbuthnot (1667-1735); Quotationary
It is written:
"There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:
haughty (prideful) eyes, a lying tongue (emphasis added),
hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out
lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers." -Proverbs
6:16-19 |
Jesus, author of
life, created the Church and a Holy People/Nation; on the other hand, man (a
presumed free People) created the State. The Church lives and operates
exclusively on Holy Scripture-The Word of God. The State
devises (creates) its
own sovereignty and rules and regulations which are not based upon the chief cornerstone which
is Christ Jesus. The Church House,
not the White House, is God's moral compass on earth. It is written: "But
the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things
there is no law." -Galations
5:22 People are most often told what to
think, but most people do not know how to think freely in the Spirit. Chances are, you've been
indoctrinated and not educated. You are probably a slave and not a true
freeman.
“The victory for
freedom of thought recorded in our Bill of Rights recognizes that in the
domain of conscience there is a moral power higher than the State.
Throughout the ages, men have suffered death rather than subordinate their
allegiance to God to the authority of the State. Freedom of religion
guaranteed by the First Amendment is the product of that struggle.”
Supreme Court of the United States, Girouard v. US, April 22, 1946
It is
written: “We [Christians] do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the
mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are
coming to nothing. No we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has
been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of
the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have
crucified the LORD of glory.
However,
as it is written: ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him’- but God has revealed it to
us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things
of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s
spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except
the Spirit of God.”
-1 Corinthians
2:6-11; Isaiah 64:4
Theocracy v. Democracy
Persecution
good-
morally excellent; virtuous;
satisfactory or superior in quality, quantity, or degree; proper
suitable or right; well-behaved; kind friendly; honorable or worthy; not
counterfeit.
evil-
morally wrong or bad;
wicked; harmful or injurious; unfortunate; disastrous; evil quality,
intention, or conduct; wickedness or sin.
In Western American culture, the Church and
the State is still "dueling" it out as to who has the greater power.
The created is never greater than the
Creator! Priests are not politicians, and politicians are not Priests!
Usurpation- "The
unlawful encroachment or assumption of the use of property, power or
authority which belongs to another. An interruption or the disturbing a man
in his right and possession. The unlawful seizure or assumption of
sovereign power. The assumption of government or supreme power by force or
illegally, in derogation to the constitution and the rights of the lawful
ruler."-Black’s Law
Dictionary, 6th Edition.
“We tend to think
of the law as complex, something that only lawyers, judges, and legal educators
can comprehend. Yet the history of the law can be viewed as a tale of human
choices about the preservation of life, the protection of property, the exercise
of individual liberty, the fashioning of creative knowledge, and other basic
social concepts.” -The Oxford Guide- American Law, edited by Kermit L.
Hall
"The Christian’s primary allegiance is always to Jesus Christ.
Christians proclaim Him Lord, recognize Him as their legitimate King,
and live as citizens of His kingdom first and foremost. The demands of
human government are always secondary to the demands of Christ and His
Kingdom—as the lives of countless martyrs and the persecuted church past
and present attest." -Chuck Colson:

“History has
shown, that rather than serving as a force of peace, 'religions have
served to foment (instigate) scores of horrendous and bloody wars,’ and
religious leaders who have ordered their followers, in the name of
religion, to kill indiscriminately, ‘have done so by hijacking and
distorting the religions in whose name they speak.’” –
Israel Singer; World Jewish Congress, Report/Fall 2005, page 7

Secular State:
"When the government and legal system is separated from control
of the priests or the religious establishment. The state's values are
based on systems not overtly drawn from religious examples...
Communist States ...are secular." -DK, The Book of Rule

“Politicians are the lowest form of life on earth. Liberal Democrats are
the lowest form of politicians. I really shudder for the future of our
country. Someone must not only win the war, but also the peace.”
-General George S. Patton Jr.; The Unknown Patton,
Charles M. Province; page 99; copyright 1983
"A powerful State has always been a threat to the existence and
influence of the church. Whether the threat be Nazism, Communism, or
humanism, a state that is hostile to religion will always attempt to
push the church toward forced irrelevancy. ... As the state
expands its powers, it can initiate laws that limit the church's
freedoms. "The state excludes the Church from everything which it
considers as belonging to the political sphere. At the same time the
Church is expected to shrivel up into nothing."
-Hitler's
Cross, Erwin W. Lutzer; pg 199
"And no wonder, for Satan himself
masquerades as an angel of light. Is it not surprising, then, if his
servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be
what their actions deserve."
-2 Corinthians 11:14, 15
"The Liberal State is a mask behind which there is no face; it is a
scaffolding behind which there is no building." -Benito Mussolini,
Italian dictator (1883-1945).
The Book of Rule, How the World is Governed
"The rule of law
refers to the regulation of the relationship between the state
and individuals by pre-established and knowable laws. The state, no less than
the individuals it governs, must be subject to and obey the law. The state’s
obligation to obey the law is central to the very existence of the rule of law. Without this obligation, there would be no enforceable limit on the state’s
power over individuals...." duhaime.org

-Robert
Muller, a former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations

God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they
not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who
practice them." -Romans 1:32
"Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the
eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom promised
those who love him? But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who
are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?
Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you
belong? -James 2:5-7
“When I say unto
the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to
warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but
his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the
wicked of his way to turn from it; if he does not turn from his way, he
shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.” -Ezekiel
33:8-9
