righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven."
Martin Luther King, Jr. had it right: "The
ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the
very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact,
violence merely increases hate. Returning violence for violence multiplies
violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness
cannot drive out hate; only love can do

extent of ones training and outlook at life. Do

"A Holy Nation"
Paul used the illustration of becoming good soldiers, not of this world, but
of Christ. "No man
that warreth entangleth himself
with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to
be a soldier." (2 Timothy 2:4) Paul
is instructing Christians that if they are in Christ they are not to become
entangled with the affairs of this life.
true Christian church scattered throughout all nations is called a holy
nation and, again, their Kingdom is not of any government of this earth. (1
Peter 2:9) Each child of God, therefore, feels a spiritual unity with their
fellow Christians no matter what country they are from. Their warfare is not
against the nations of this world. Their warfare is against their real
enemies—worldly influences, their own fleshly weaknesses and the devil.
Therefore, as soldiers of the cross, Christians are to put on the symbolic
armor of God.
"Wherefore take unto you the
whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about
with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the
shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of
the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the Word of God..." (See
Ephesians 6:11-17) Yes, as Christian soldiers, our battles are not with
others, but with ourselves and our own fallen tendencies.
"Fight the good fight of
faith..." 1 Timothy 6:12
that, in the list of Christian armor, the only defensive tool is the sword
of the Spirit—the Word of God. The disciple of Christ must use none of
Satan's weapons—anger, malice, hatred, strife, evil speaking, etc. After
enlisting as a soldier of the cross, this sword of the Spirit can only be
obtained and used properly by careful Bible study.

Be born again in the TRUE Jesus
If it had not been for the Lord, who reached out to
us we would have perished in our own selfishness. If it had not been
for the Lord, who healed our wounds we would have succumbed to pain and

our lives. All thanks be to God for the many ways in which our lives
have been blessed. -written by Rev. Nancy Townley

unfailing love and peace).
