As authorized and
requested by the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America, President Reagan designates 1983 as a national “Year of
the Bible”… “in recognition of both the formative influence the Bible has
been for our Nation, and our national need to study and apply the teachings
of the Holy Scriptures.” (Public Law 97-280… “the renewing of our knowledge
of and faith in God through Holy Scripture can strengthen us as a nation.”
The Supreme Court of
the United States said, in its decision concerning the Church of the Holy
Trinity, “Christianity is, and always has been, a part of the common law…
not Christianity with an established church and tithes and spiritual courts;
but Christianity with liberty of conscience to all men…”
It is written: “Unless
the Lord builds the house, its builders build in vain. Unless the Lord
watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.” –Psalms 127:1
“The Lord is
not slow in keeping his promise [of a new heaven and a new earth, the home
of righteousness v.13], as some understand slowness. He is patient with
you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But
the day of the Lord will come like a thief. …” II Peter 3:9, 10, 13
